Genetics & Plant Breeding Division

  • Assist Coconut Cultivation Board to select "Plus Palms" for seed collection
  • Monitoring of commercial seed production process and seed and seedling issue
  • Monitoring of commercial seedling production and carrying out seedling certification
  • Registration of private nurseries
  • Training growers/students on coconut breeding, coconut cultivation, coconut nursery management and coconut seed production

Plant Physiology Division

  • Dissemination of technology for the improvement of shelf-life of tender coconuts
  • Conducting inspection visits to advise growers' problems on their request
  • Training and supervising postgraduate and undergraduate students on physiology related disciplines
  • Conducting awareness programs and disseminating new technologies to extension officers of Coconut Cultivation Board, interested growers and entrepreneurs, staff and students of universities and schools

Coconut Processing Research Division

  • Analytical testing services
  • Conducting of demonstrations on preparation of coconut products
  • Conducting of training programs for potential entrepreneurs
  • Advisory services to the coconut product industries

Soils & Plant Nutrition Division

  • Differential Fertilizer Recommendation (DFR) - A fertilizer recommendation based on nutrient status of the palm
  • Inorganic fertilizer analysis - To test the quality of inorganic fertilizers
  • Organic manure analysis and introduce organic manure package
  • Land suitability test for coconut cultivation - To identify the suitable land for coconut cultivation
  • Quality certificates for exporting coir pith
  • Water quality test - For the irrigation purpose
  • Soil analysis - To assess the soil nutrient status in coconut lands

Technology Transfer Division

  • Preparation of comprehensive estate development plans based on the potential of coconut estates and the needs of land owners
  • Conduct educational and farming  programs for coconut growers, teachers and students
  • Conduct training field days, seminars and field demonstrations
  • Issue technical and advisory publications in three languages
  • Issue video documentaries in CDs on major coconut pests, intercropping under coconut and animal based farming systems. Interactive multimedia CDs on coconut cultivation and coconut based products

Tissue Culture Division

  • Supply of embryo-cultured Dikiri coconut plants to growers at a nominal rate
  • Development of micropropagation protocols for selected crops on request


  • Lending Service - Staff can borrow an unlimited number of books and journals. The normal loan period is one month. Reminders are sent at the expiration of this period. However, and extension to the loan period could be permitted as appropriate.
  • Inter-Library Loan Service - The library cannot acquire all relevant resources. To compensate, arrangements are made to share resources of other libraries through library networks.
  • Document Copy Supply and Photo Duplication Services - A photo duplication document delivery service is provided by the library subjected to the copyright law. This service is free of charge to members of the AGRINET group of libraries. Other libraries and individuals need to pay a nominal cost.
